2016’s Favourites

I wanted to do a post on a few of the beauty products I’ve been loving this year, so I looked through all my products and picked out the one’s I’ve enjoyed using the most and kept reaching for through out the year. So here are some of my favourites from 2016…

Nails & Hair

  • Essie Nail Polish in Ladylike – My favourite nude nail polish to use.
  • Essie Nail Polish in Fiji – Such a pretty light pink, I’m pale and I don’t feel like this colour enhances my paleness, so that’s a plus for me.
  • Batiste Tropical Dry Shampoo – This has been a firm favourite for many years now, I don’t like to wash my hair everyday so this comes in super handy when I feel I need it. Although I mainly use it at night so it can soak up the oils overnight.

Skin

  • Simple Toner – I have been using this on and off for a number of years and I can honestly say the reason I always go back to it is because it’s the best toner I’ve used so far.
  • Quick Fix Brightening Peel Mask – The product lives up to it’s name, I really find this brightens my skin and this is my go to mask whenever I feel my skin is looking a bit dull or dry.
  • Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturiser – The only reason I use this is to help clear up the any spots I get, I just smother them in this and it reduces the size and redness of the spots.

Makeup

  • Mac Lip Pencil in Whirl – My sister brought this for me the previous year in 2015 but I didn’t really use it much, however I started using it more and more during 2016 and now this is one of my favourite lipliners to use!
  • Mac Lip Pencil in Plum – Since I started using Whirl loads, I wanted to get a darker liner for the Autumn/Winter months and decided to pick up Plum, I have really enjoyed wearing a darker lip and am impressed by the staying power.
  • MUA Mossaic Bronzer in Sunkissed Glow – For being such a cheap product this is one of my favourite products, I’m not the biggest fan of blush but I love using this one, it’s more on the bronze side so it gives a nice glow to my skin.
  • Revolution 144 Eyeshadow Palette 2016 Collection – I’ve used this palette so much during 2016, I’ve used it to create natural looks, dramatic looks and even on my friends when I’ve done their makeup. The pigments are waaaaay better than you’d expect and the staying power is just as good. I would 100% recommend this palette.

There’s my roundup of some of my favourite things to use from 2016. I really hoped you enjoyed this post and have an amazing new year!

See you in 2017!

My Grandad.

So 2016 is almost at a close and to be quite honest…thank fuck!

I think many can agree that 2016 has been a terrible year. I’ve lost count of the amazing talents that have been ripped away from us in this monstrous year. And dare I even mention the political choices that have taken place this year.

But for me the reason why this year has been one of the worst is because I lost my amazing Grandad!

So this post isn’t to reflect on what a shitty year it’s been but to let the world know how I had the best Grandad ever.

Here’s to you Grandad,

The man always behind the camera documenting those valuable and funny moments between my sister and I.

The man who knew everything and anything.

To the man who was the calmest in every situation.

The man who had to explain how to play every single board game we played at Christmas.

To the man who is the strongest and bravest man I know.

To my Grandad, the man who will forever have my love.

Krakow

Our fifth stop on our tour was the amazing city of Krakow, I have been to Krakow before about 2/3 years previous and it was one of the most amazing trips I’ve ever had, mostly due to it being with the best people who really made the trip an unforgettable one, so as you can imagine I was super excited to go back and see what Krakow had in store for me the second time around.

Before we arrived in Krakow, we did stop at Auschwitz, I did also visit here in my previous trip, honestly I never even thought I’d get to visit it in my lifetime, but now I’ve been twice, although one visit was definitely enough. I would be surprised if you didn’t know what Auschwitz was, but I’ve linked an information page so you can become informed and learn of the horrors that took place there. I don’t want to dwell on Auschwitz too much, since I want the tone of this blog post to be excited, however I did want to mention one thing, when we were there, we noticed people taking photos of themselves smiling in different locations around the camps, this really struck a few of us who didn’t agree with this action since we felt it was disrespectful but I wanted to mention it since it’s something that stuck with me since this trip and I still find it difficult to get my head around.

Anyway, onto more positive things! Our first day in Poland we went and explored as much as possible, a group of us took a walk to Wawel Castle and visited the Wawel Dragon.

We also wondered around the biggest mall I’ve ever been in, the Galeria Krakowska. I would definitely recommend having a browse in here, there’s so many different shops and eateries. I visited here on my first trip which made for some super funny memories.

For the evening we went to Pierogarnia Krakowiacy, which did the best pierogies, 5 of us went and all ordered different flavoured pierogies and then all shared, I would really recommend going here, and it really wasn’t that expensive either! After we devoured our pierogies, we then went to to a shots bar, luckily we arrived well before the rest of our Contiki group so were able to get a few shots each, because once the others came there was no way we would’ve got served quickly. After everyone had got their shots, we made our way to a Polish club! After dancing the night away, a couple of us found a McDonalds and chilled there for a bit before returning to the hotel to get some sleep before travelling to Budapest the next morning.

So that sums up my second trip to Krakow, obviously the second time around was a lot shorter and didn’t live up to the first trip, since we had more time and packed in a lot more, maybe I can do a post on my first trip to Poland if that’s something you’d be interested in? There’s a lot of funny stories that took place on the first trip!

Enjoy the rest of the week!

Christmas Tag!

Hello everyone,

I know I was meant to upload on the weekend, but the last few days have been hectic for my family and I but I wanted to upload something for my blog and for you guys, so I hope you enjoy this Christmas tag 🙂

1. What is your favorite Christmas film?

I love Arthur Christmas, I think it’s such a feel good film filled with festive spirit. I also love watching the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special, I know it’s not a film but it’s so funny.

2. Have you ever had a White Christmas?

I have not, where I live we rarely get any snow, I would love to have a white Christmas one day though.

3. Where do you usually spend your holiday?

When I was younger we would spend it with either set of my grandparents houses, but as we grew older we stayed at home and our grandparents would come to us.

4. What is your favorite Christmas song?

I love the song ‘White Christmas’ which actually is very fitting since I do dream of having a white Christmas.

5. Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

Our family saves all the fun of opening presents until Christmas morning.

6. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

Ruldolph, Dancer, Prancer, Vixon, Dasher, Donner, those are all the ones I can remember.

7. What holiday traditions are you looking forward to most this year?

Playing board games with my family and of course getting to eat pigs in blankets!!

8. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Fake!!

9. What is your all-time favorite holiday food/sweet treat?

Pigs in blankets, 100%

10. Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?

I like both, I like seeing other people open the gifts I got them and being happy with their presents but I also like to receive gifts too.

11. What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?

One year, my sister and I both received electric scooters, they were so much fun, until one of the chargers almost set out house on fire…definitely won’t be forgetting that Christmas gift haha!

12. What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

Switzerland would be so lush to spend a Christmas one year.

13. Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?

I’d say I’m average, I like to decorate the presents with ribbons and things but the actual wrapping paper part isn’t the best looking.

14. Most memorable Holiday moment?

There’s too many to choose from, the one’s from when I was younger are my favourite, my sister and I use to get so excited that we would wake everyone up at 4/5 am so we could open and play with our presents.

15. What made you realize the truth about Santa?

When I saw my parents putting the stockings on the end of our beds, that’s when I realised the truth about Santa.

16. Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?

I think of a few but never actually carry them out, I don’t really see the point, if you want to change something in your life, why should you wait for the new year?

17. What makes the holidays special for you?

Spending it with my family!
